Slovenský ráj - národní park
Pro své výjmečné přírodní estetické hodnoty byl slovenský ráj roku 1988 vyhlášen za národní park.
Slovenský ráj je turisticky zajímavý po celý rok jeho území zpřístupňuje okolo 300 kilometrů značených turistický chodníků. Průchod soutěskami umožňují zabudovaná technicá zařízení – žebříky, mosty, řetězy, kramle.
Území slovenského ráje odvodňují dvě řeky s množstvím menších přítoků. Na severu je to řeka Hornád na jihu řeka Hnilec. Obě dvě pramení pod Královou horou a obě vyhloubili do vápence hluboké úzké kaňony – průlom Hornádu a Stratenský kaňon. Převážnou část území tvoří vápence a dolomity, proto se tu nachází víc než třistapadesát jeskyně a propastí. Pro návštěvníky je zpřístupněná pouze unikát ní Dobšinská ledová jeskyně, která je za psaná do seznamu světového přírodního dědictví UNESCO.
Průlom Hornádu
Řeka Hornád za obcí Hrabušice opouští Hornádskou kotlinu, na krátkém úseku se obrací její tok zprudka na jih a vytváří v severní části Slovenského ráje přibližně 16 kilometrů dlouhý kaňon. Je to nejmohutnější a nejkrásnější kaňon. Zajímavý je svojí délkou, hloubkou, strmými, místy až 300 m vysokými skalnatými svahy, které lemují po obou stranách tento vodní tok. Od roku 1974 je soutěska zpřístupněné po celé délce. Na trase je tzv. chodník horské služby, na kterém je zabudováno 7 kovových mostků, přibližně 320 m řetězů v exponovaný skalních stěnách, 140 kovových stupňů a 70 m dřevěných lávek.

Klášterská roklina
je nejkratší trasa z průlomu Hornádu na Kláštorisko. Je poměrně krátká a strmá, bohatá na vodopády, z nichž největší je vodopád Antona Straku.
Suchá Belá
Jedna z nejromantičtějších soutěsek Slovenského ráje. Vyznačuje se bizarními vodopády, skalními okny, prahy a peřejemi. Voda protékající rokli pramení na severním okraji planiny Glac. Název rokliny souvisí s jevem, kdy se voda na určitém úseku ztrácí a v nižších polohách se opět objevuje. Nejznámější jsou Misové vodopády se soustavou přírodních výtvorů, tzv. obřích hrnců. Nejatraktivnější z nich je Okienkový vodopád, jehož voda protéká skalním oknem a dál padá po skalní stěně. Dalšími vodopády ve směru postupu jsou Korytový vodopád a Kaskáda.

Kláštorisko
Rozlehlá planina (744 m n. m.) na hřebeni spojujícím Čertovu sihoť s planinou Glac. Ze tří stran je chráněna soutěskami a hlubokými dolinami, a byla tak prakticky nedobytná. Sem se uchýlili obyvatelé Spiše před nájezdem Tatarů. Dnes jsou zde ruiny kláštera.

Glac
Je nejrozlehlejší planinou na Slovensku a dosahuje nejvyšší výšky 1061 m. Na planinu Glac vyúsťuje podstatná část značených chodníků. Ve svazích této planiny jsou vyerodované téměř všechny soutěsky na Slovensku.
Tomašovský výhled (680 m n.m.)
Skalní galérie na jižním svahu Ludmanky s výhledem na Průlom Hornádu, do doliny Bílého potoku, na Čertovu sihoť a při dobrém počasí na Vysoké Tatry.

O slovenském ráji jsem četla několik článků na www.cerstvezpravy.cz a doslova jsem se do něj zamilovala. Tenhle článek mi to ještě potvrdil. Prostě se tam příští rok, protože letos to už nejspíš nestihnu, zajedu podívat alespoň na 14 dní. Škoda jen, že Češi mají u Slováků takovou pověst „turistů v sandálech“…
